Janice's Vision for Delaware

Government needs checks and balances.  Delaware’s one-party rule is currently without these safeguards. 

Delaware’s taxpayers shouldn’t have to wonder who’s interests our elected officials serve.  We deserve confidence that our tax dollars are being well spent and that officials are serving our interests, not the interests of themselves or their political party.  Politicians and bureaucrats shouldn’t waste our money on inefficient programs or by giving handouts to insiders.

As Auditor, it will always be my priority to provide the objective analysis needed to create a better Delaware.  To ensure that programs and policies are effective, efficient, and data driven.  To put timely information into the hands of stakeholders so that they can make informed decisions about our communities and the State’s future. 

I’ll give you the facts, shine a light on where reforms are needed, and not cave when facing special interests or political pressure.

 

My platform:

• Independence and Objectivity:  The Auditor should serve as the non-partisan watchdog of Delaware’s government finances.  No entity should get a free pass from accountability and transparency.  The Auditor must be willing to follow the money wherever it leads.  As Auditor I promise to keep partisan politics out of the office and to serve ALL Delawareans.   
• Ensuring Accountability:  Eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse will again be the cornerstone of Auditor’s Office.  I will ask the hard questions of government officials to ensure agencies are held accountable for their spending decisions and provide timely, fact based, non-partisan information that can be used to improve government and save taxpayer dollars. 
• Fighting for Transparency:  Decisions need to be made in accordance with the law and in the light of day – not with a handshake in a backroom.  I will work to ensure that Delawareans fully understand how their hard-earned tax dollars are spent, how government contracts are awarded, and how we measure the results of our investments.  This is YOUR money!
